Graduate StudentsMatt Sherwood
Fifth Year Email: [email protected] Originally from Long Branch, New Jersey, Matt earned his BA in chemistry at Rutgers University-Newark where he worked on several medicinal chemistry projects in Dr. Joel Freundlich’s group at Rutgers-NJMS. These projects primarily focused on the synthesis of novel small molecule antibiotics. Matt is currently working on the total synthesis of heliannuol natural products utilizing N-HVI mediated oxidative ring expansion. Cassie Sedler
Fifth Year Email: [email protected] Originally from Bethlehem, PA, Cassie Received a B.S in Chemistry from East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania. In the summer of 2019, she participated in the Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program at University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where she worked in the lab of Professor Patrick Dussault Synthesizing functionalized fatty acid analogs. Cassie is currently working on using N-HVI reagents in the new C-H amination and further developing the N-HVI mediated oxidative ring expansion. Jasjit (Jassie) Kaur
Third Year Email: [email protected] Jassie is from Delaware County, PA. She received her B.S. in chemistry with a minor in philosophy from Drexel University where she performed undergraduate research in the lab of Dr. Hai-feng Ji. She also worked at the University of Pennsylvania in the lab of Dr. Marisa Kozlowski through an NSF REU where she worked on the synthesis of PAH molecules. Jassie is currently an NSF Graduate Research Fellow working an SNAr process of electron-rich arenes using N-HVI reagents. In her free time Jassie likes to read and hang out with her two cats. Publications: Org. Lett. 2023, 25, 14, 2548–2553 Talia Watson
Third Year Email: [email protected] Originally from Harleysville, Pa, Talia earned her B.S. in Biochemistry at Cedar Crest College where she worked on synthesizing naphthoquinones in Dr. Lindsey A. Welch's group. Talia is currently working on the synthesis of 3-aminopiperidines utilizing catalytic HVI in a Ritter-Amination type process. In her free time Talia enjoys coaching/playing volleyball, hanging with her pets (Shanny and Calvin), watching silly movies, and reading! Jabez Thullaprambil
Third Year Email: [email protected] Originally from Kerala, India, Jabez earned his MS in chemistry from Savitribai Phule Pune University, India, where he worked on metal-catalyzed indole functionalization under the supervision of Dr. Vasant Chabukswar. Jabez is currently working on electro-oxidative intramolecular difunctionalization of alkenes. |
